Mickey Mouse sails his way into history with this very rare and beautiful limited-edition Disneyana statue. The very first Disneyana Convention was held on September 24-27 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It had 750 attendees that first year, and doubled in size the next year. The attendance kept growing beyond anyone's imagination, and this event has now morphed into the very popular D23 conventions held every other year in Anaheim, CA. At each Disneyana convention, a very limited edition themed ceramic bisque was offered for sale. The initial piece was Mickey Mouse as "Steamboat Willie," designed by Marc Delle of the Walt Disney Attractions Art Department. The edition was only 600 and many first-year conventioneers were unable to get one. These rarely come up for resale, but here is the Steamboat Willie ceramic statue from that very first Disneyana Convention, signed by the artist on the base and dated 9/26/92. The piece measures 9" x 9".
