Description: Rare Vintage Elkington Monarchy Plate Sugar Shaker Patent 408295, c1940 Here on offer is a rare and unusual Elkington Monarchy Plate sugar shaker, Patent 408295, c1940 An interesting and elegant little piece to dispense sugar or caster and cinnamon. This silver plated caster sugar dispenser of circular ‘beer-glass’ form with collet foot and a stepped, domed, removable cover and finial. This is a remarkably ingenious patented sugar shaker. When you depress the button, internally, the finial engages with a sprung shaft contained within a central tube held in position by a pierced, spoked ring, the shaft terminating in a splayed disc located within the foot. The dispenser is undecorated. The underside of the dispensing disc carries the maker name ‘Elkington’, the design no. 33392 and Patent No. 408295. The shaker is offered in good vintage condition. The silver plate is in remarkable condition, there is an undulation on one side of the foot edge, which is not apparent, but does very slightly effects the stability, it does not affect the use at all. It measures 14.3cm in height by 6.3cm in diameter. The shaker is ready to be collected and enjoyed once again, adding to the aged charm and character of the piece.
