Description: This promotional item, a Power-Pal Magic Jar Opener, was given out by the Damariscotta Bank & Trust Company a few years ago. The DB&T, as it was known, was a small bank in the small Maine town of Damariscotta, Maine, established in 1973 by some local businessmen to compete with the long-established First National Bank of Damariscotta. It was acquired in December 2020 by the Bangor Savings Bank, a much larger statewide bank. I suspect there are few examples extant of this promotional item, especially unopened ones in the original cellophane wrapper. On the back of the item are listed possible uses and benefits for the thin rubber gizmo: bottle top remover, screw driver gripper, bag handle gripper, non-slip coaster, light bulb remover, loosens lids and caps, triples turning power, removes gas caps, loosens medicine bottles, protects table tops. The jar opener, roughly in the shape of a piggy bank, is 4⅝ inches high and 4¾ inches wide. The cellophane enclosing it measures 6¼ inches high by 7 inches wide. The cellophane is slightly crinkly.
