The deepening project funded by the federal government failed to expand the harbors export business because corresponding local investments in the harbors infrastructure were not made. From 1882 to 1900 the exports through the harbor declined from $19.5 million to $7.2 million. The appendix also contains other maps, including Savannah Harbor and St. Johns River. Fine copy.
