Author Biography Prof. DU Shanyi is an expert in mechanics and composite materials and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He graduated from the Department of Modern Mechanics at the University of Science and Technology of China in 1964 and worked at Harbin Institute of Technology. He later worked as a visiting scholar at George Washington University in the United States. Prof. DU has served as vice president of Harbin Institute of Technology. He is currently a professor at Harbin Institute of technology and Dean of the School of Engineering Science, University of Science and Technology of China. He has been engaged in scientific research on aerospace structural mechanics and composite materials for decades and made great contributions to the applications of advanced composite materials and the studies of fundamental problems on near-space vehicles.
