Description: Casas Grande (Paquimé) Ramos Polychrome pottery jar, or bottle. The design, repeated three times around the jar, consists of a stepped design, geometric lines and shapes, and stylized macaws. The jar is 7 inches tall, with a 4 inch diameter at the widest point. There is a hole at the rim of the neck, likely for attaching a carrying strap or cord. There are age-related surface abrasions and rubs (see pictures). This jar is an unusual form for Casas Grande pottery, with a rounded bottom and neck. This form is more characteristic of the prehistoric pottery of the Caddo and Mississippian cultures. Research references:"Ancient Pottery of the Mississippi Valley", William H.
