He has worked for publishers such as Marvel; Malibu; DC Comics; Image; Dark Horse Comics & Peregrine Entertainment. His area of concentration and expertise is as a Penciler & Cover Artist. Peter Allen David (September 23, 1956) is a celebrated and prolific writer of comic books, novels, television, films and video games who often jokingly describes his occupation as "Writer of Stuff". His notable comic book work includes an award-winning 12-year run on The Incredible Hulk, as well as runs on Aquaman, Young Justice, SpyBoy, Supergirl, Fallen Angel, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Captain Marvel and X-Factor. David has earned multiple awards for his work, including a 1992 Eisner Award, a 1993 Wizard Fan Award, a 1996 Haxtur Award, a 2007 Julie Award and a 2011 GLAAD Media Award; mostly due to a writing style that is characterized by a mingling of real-world issues with humor including references to popular culture, as well as elements of metafiction & self-reference. In a round-about-way Peter David was brought into the writing career when Jim Owsley became an editor. Jim was acquainted with Peter's gift from earlier attempts to submit stories and purchased a Spider-Man story from him (The Spectacular Spider-Man #103 (June 1985)). this lead Owsley to also purchase "The Death of Jean DeWolff", a violent murder mystery darker in tone than the usually lighter Spider-Man stories (The Spectacular Spider-Man #107–110 (October 1985 – January 1986)). After some highs and loww, Jim Owsley stepped back from editorial duties and Bob Harras took over as editor. Harras offered David a struggling title that no one else wanted to write (The Incredible Hulk). By accepting this Albatross, David achieved a mostly free rein to do whatever he wanted with the character. It was during this 12-year run on Hulk that allowed David to explore the recurring themes of the Hulk's multiple personality disorder (MPD). Thus allowing David to explain his periodic changes between the more rageful and less intelligent Green Hulk and the more streetwise, cerebral Gray Hulk, and exploring the childhood abuse at the hands of his father. The late 1980s and 1990s included runs on Wolverine, the New Universe (Mark Hazzard: Merc & Justice), original X-Factor & Spider-Man 2099. David wrote a seven-issue Aquaman mini-series (The Atlantis Chronicles) for DC Comics (1990). Exploring the history of Atlantis in the full script format. He later wrote another Aquaman miniseries, (Aquaman: Time and Tide (1994)), which led to relaunching a new monthly Aquaman series (#1-#46). This run on Aquaman (much like his run on the Hulk) gained notoriety; for in the book's second issue, Aquaman lost a hand & was replaced with a harpoon. David recast the character as an aggressive man of action, one deserving of greater respect. Brad Vancatta began his commercial art career inking comic books for publisher AC Comics, while at the same time refining and expanding his skills with additional training at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. During his time there, he did some additional comic book work pencilling for D.C. Comics. After graduating, Brad went on to do a stint as one of John Romita, Sr.'s art apprentices, the 'Romita's Raiders', at the offices of Marvel Comics in New York City. Having established himself as a premiere inker and colorist in the comic book industry, he then went freelance, and began working on a variety of top titles, such as The Hulk, Spider-Man, and the X-Men, for Marvel Comics, Bloodshot for Acclaim Comics, Stormwatch for Image Comics, and Superman, and the highly acclaimed mini-series, Aquaman: Time and Tide, for D.C. Comics. In addition to his comic book work, Brad has drafted storyboards for a variety of media uses, including a public service announcement for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, which was sponsored by The Walt Disney Company. He also had a major role in doing overall design, conceptual artwork, graphic design, and actual ride artwork for the 'Adventures of Spider-Man' multi-media attraction in both the Islands of Adventure theme park at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, and Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. Brad has also worked in the video game industry on a number of PC and PlayStation 2 titles for Interplay Entertainment Corp., producing level design art, conceptual art, and texture maps. Most recently, he revisited working in comics by producing art for publisher and multi-media entertainment company CrossGeneration Entertainment. Currently, Brad enjoys residing and freelancing in the Los Angeles area.
