This copy is from the 1925 reset of the original edition with the original Claus illustrations replaced by those of E. R. Withington because the original plates had worn out. The Claus portrait on the cover, as well as the color and appearance of the cover are the same as the original first edition, however. Green cloth binding tight with no leaning. Spine faded. Front cover in good plus condition, but some spotting to back cover. Inside, there is a penciled price on the front endpaper and some abrasion to a small section of the contents page. Except for some age browning around the perimeter of the pages, the inside is otherwise free of writing, tears, creases or spotting. No dust jacket.396 pages
