1983 Fender Elite I Precision Bass Active TBX Black w/Rosewood Board & HSC

Description: The bass is in excellent condition with one unfortunate ding on the lower edge between the strap pin and the input jack. Some of the paint has chipped off there, but there is no other damage or dings or dents anywhere else on the guitar and the top is very clean. The Fender Elite Precision bass was made in 1983 and only lasted for a year or so, coinciding with the sale of Fender by CBS. The Elite series of guitars was Fender's top of the line with high-end modern features combined with classic Fender features. The bass sports a very early version of the TBX tone boost expansion circuit. It was a feature on high-end Fenders through the '80s where the center detent is the standard fender P-bass tone knob on full. Turning the knob counterclockwise cuts out the highs while turning a clockwise provides a boost of mids and highs of 4 lUx The neck plate has the microtilt adjuster and the knobs are unique to the Elite series with rubber grip knobs with everyone's favorite F engraved on top The hardware is all top of the line Schaller Parts including the high mass Bridge which is missing the fine tuners. They are available online. The tuning machines are also Deluxe Schallers with the ubiquitous F brand. The Elite Series also has an early version of the Bi-Flex truss rod which allows tightening in either direction, definitely a nice upgrade. The neck is wide and flat C shape with the skunk stripe. I believe the case is not original, but it is a nice G&G Fender case
