Description: Here's a huge 11 1/4"tall crude heavily whittled Civil War period apothecary drugstore medicine bottle with its original paper label that reads TINCT. AMARA. It has no embossing in the glass itself....Hand blown in mold, bimal...early sunken smooth base...applied square ring lip with clear 6 sided ground glass stopper.....aqua bottle....11 1/4"tall....round....Shiny nice but has one chip on back of lip; no other damage. Original label is torn as you can see. This rare early 1860s bottle just missed being pontiled. Tincture Amara was a medicine made from bitter herbs such as chicory, dandelion, yarrow, etc. It was used for stomach and digestion problems, which was very common in the mid 1800s. This bottle would have been behind the counter in an 1860 era apothecary shop or drugstore. ....THIS IS A FIXED PRICE BOTTLE FOR SALE IN MY STORE.....
